General Scholarship Information

*Please access the Counseling Department's Google classroom for updated scholarship information, along with plenty of other resources, events, and opportunities.

We list scholarships in the counseling office as we receive information about them on our scholarship database. There are many more scholarships available to individuals who seek out information.

The very best scholarship opportunities have the smallest pool of applicants. Many local scholarships are provided through our local scholarship application which is available January-April each year. The Florence Jessen Scholarship  is another generous scholarship dedicated to SHS students, only. These two applications should be submitted by every SHS student planning to pursue post-secondary education of any kind.  Also, please make it a priority to access scholarships offered through the State of Washington.

Some great free resources for scholarships include:

Scholarships are typically…

  • “Need-based”- based on your family’s income, or
  • Based on academic achievement, as in GPA or test scores, or
  • Based on special skills, goals, or career paths, or
  • Some other aspect of your identity, such as race, native language, or belonging to an organization, or
  • some combination of these

One of the best resources for scholarships is to apply for scholarships with the school you plan to attend. Most colleges and trade schools offer diverse scholarship options for their students. Frequently, there is a link on the admissions webpage to scholarship options, and in some cases, there is a separate scholarship application  process.

Do not hesitate to reach out and ask for help!
